On April 18, the Center for Genome Research and Biocomputing will hold an introductory Rural Data Science Workshop in the afternoon prior to its annual Computational Biology Conference on Friday April 19.
Program for the Thursday workshop
Program for the Friday conference

For those who wish to come from out of town to attend the two conferences, have some funds that will allow us to provide travel support (food, transportation, accommodation) of up to $500 each for 20 Extension professionals or Community College faculty who wish to attend the workshop and the conference. Faculty from OSU-Cascades are also eligible. Registration for both workshop and conference will be free.

Colleagues from the Corvallis area are most welcome also of course, but we assume you will not need travel support.

To apply for a fellowship (it’s not too late!), please send a brief email to the CGRB Director Dr. Brett Tyler (brett.tyler@oregonstate.edu) describing your work and why you are interested in rural data science. You will also need to register for the Computational Biology Conference at https://cgrb.oregonstate.edu/webform/spring-conference-registration.
These fellowships are part of a broader initiative by the CGRB and the university to help disseminate data science capabilities to communities across the state.
