Dr. Denise M. Hynes, MPH, PhD, RN, FAMIA (She/Her/Hers), joined Oregon State University in 2018. Professor Hynes is the founding director of CQLS Health Data & Informatics (HDI) Program and is Professor in the College of Health. She is a fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association. She also holds a courtesy faculty appointment at the Oregon Health and Science University, School of Nursing and an appointment as a Senior Research Career Scientist at the VA Portland Health Care System as a part of the Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care (CIVIC). As a nurse and health services researcher, Professor Hynes' research focuses on evaluating and improving healthcare quality, access, and economic outcomes for people with chronic health conditions, and uses large-scale health records, insurance claims (VA, Medicare) and survey data.
